Alternatives to BT Broadband

Is there anything we can do ourselves? We’ve looked at several possible solutions

Really good for what its intended for – a wireless network connection
Adapted for communities in the country
Many successful solutions put to together by residents elsewhere in the country
West Haddon near Northampton Not ideal for urban areas.
Using Netstumbler – 20 access points around Monkston
It’s hard to justify a business model.
I’ve looked at proposals – they barely pay for a techy part time.
There have been several company failures recently such as Invisible Networks.
Technically good – failed as they relied too much on regular grant funding.

Fine for rural solutions
Not ideal for urban areas.
Do we really want 10,000 large dishes in MK?
Expensive
Signal delay – bad news for on-line gamers!

I don’t want to invest time and money in a business that will be immediately under-cut should a Key Telecoms player sneeze and finally choose to do something.

Cheaper for end user

Their solution will be reliable, and well engineered.
