Milton Keynes Broadband Action Group

Joining our Group

You're welcome to join the Milton Keynes Broadband Action Group.

If you've had difficulties trying to get Broadband, feel free to write them up and share your saga with us.  Email your story to the group coordinator.

The Rulebook

  1. Membership is open to any Milton Keynes resident. If you cannot get broadband please join; if you can get broadband, and believe that broadband should be made available throughout Milton Keynes, please join. (Or may be you think 512kbps isn't fast enough?)

Join the group mailing list here.

  2. We define Milton Keynes as the area covered by the 01908 telephone code.

  3. Members can leave at any time - send an email to the coordinator with 'unsubscribe' in the subject - and they'll be removed from both the Membership Email List and the Informal Email List.

  4. You will receive a quarterly newsletter by email, which we strongly recommend that you read through. If you have any comments about issues raised in the newsletter, please make comments to the Informal Email List, or reply directly to the coordinator.

Contacts

Feel free to contact the following members at any time:

Group Coordinator

Nick Hubbard

Press Secretary

John Baker liaises with newspaper, radio and TV organisations.

Communication with Members

All members will receive an email "newsletter", usually once a month. This is always via email. Let me know if you change your email address.

Informal Email List

There's an informal email list that you may choose to join. This is optional, but please do subscribe to it.

It is important that the Group is healthy, and that we never appear to be the "front men" for BT, NTL, MK Council, and others. Having a "live" group discussing all aspects of the Milton Keynes broadband fiasco prevents this.

Reading the ideas / problems from others will also help you.

Comment Guidelines

When emailing the list consider the following:

  1. If your comment is Broadband related - email the list
  2. If your comment is "techy" and MK related - email the list
  3. If in doubt, email the list. You'll soon be told if it's off beam!

You can choose to receive mail in a daily digest or "live". (The usual preference is "live.")

To post a message to all the list members, send email to monkston@metahusky.net.

Unsubscribing from the list

Visit http://metahusky.net/mailman/options/monkston/<your email address> and you'll be presented with an unsubscribe page.

A member may choose to unsubscribe from the Informal Email List as they desire, but will remain on the Membership Email List.

Any problems please email the coordinator.

Data Protection Act

No details are released to any party without you permission.

We adhere to the principles of the Data Protection Act. We are a "not for profit organisation".

If you have concerns about Data Protection issues please visit the Information Commissioner's web site.

What can I do to help the group?

Consider writing to someone in a position of authority.

We are always interested in reports of white vans running in telecoms cable!
