BT Rant
Don't be caught out...
On 2nd January 2003 I ordered BT's ISDN product "Home Highway."
On the 17th October I ask for the Home Highway to be disconnected as I have
ADSL on another line.
I have to pay £55 for the rest of the unused contract term as I'm finishing
before the first year. OK. That's life. Annoying. BUT...
...and here's the rub:
If I had chosen BT as my ISP, not good old Zen, I would have had this £55
absorbed as a transfer.
This does seem a bit unfair.
I'd advise folk to stick with BT if you don't want to be caught out like
this!
However, I'm happy with Zen, so I'll stick with them. |

Please add my name to your list of supporters I have found BT & NTL
very unhelpful.

It's incredible that Britain's "most modern" town is not totally serviced
with BB access.
My attempts to start an internet based business have failed due to lack of
BB - there must be many others in the same situation.
Look forward to lending support where possible.

The good news is that we are now on the NTL and MK Council
Wireless Pilot.
It seems to be working well, albeit only through our USB port while I sort a
router out.

I wanted to sincerely thank you for all your efforts. Its
because of your instigation that today I have Broadband. I managed to get
broadband last week and I am writing to you to thank and give you my details
so you can update the records.
Thank you once again.

Failed!
That last minute smack of eco-consciousness which stopped me chopping down
the trees along H6 came back to bite me. The NTL lads took all of 10 minutes
to explain I didn't have a hope.
Bah.
How much does a leased line cost?
Maybe BT should offer discounted ISDN to people who can't receive broadband?

| Just to let everyone know that NTL trial equipment was
installed this week on 28/10/03 at my house and has been running well. I
am in Quinton Drive Bradwell Village and have clear line of sight to the
transmitter at Linford Wood.
The weather has been clear and fine so far, and to test it I tried a long
delayed windows update from Microsoft of approx 8Mb. It took a blissfully
short 2.5 minutes to download, about 18 seconds per Mb.
Hope others join in and find the trial useful.

I've had my NTL Wireless trial broadband installed on Friday.
I have finally joined the rest of civilization thanks to your efforts.
They had to look hard for the signal but at the end they got it (after
serving them coffee). They were very professional and did a good job.
The broadband service is excellent. I have yet had no problems at all apart
from some occasion when I felt it was a bit slow.
On the whole it is great.
Thanks again.

I have successfully been connected to ntl wireless
broadband, thanks to your information.

NTL came on Tuesday but as no clear line to Linford
transmitter left without installing so will now not be able to take part in
trial.
Is this why they need more people to sign up for the trial.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the info on NTL, they came round my property
today and there is NO line of sight to the tower.
I was surprised to see from the map,
that people off Noon Layer Drive, and what appears to be further than my
property from THE BOX, have got ADSL!
BT are adamant that I'm too far at 6.26 KM from THE BOX. I think I'm getting
the run around and have left a message for Serena to call me. I'm sure that
if they measured my line attentation it would be less than the 60dB limit.
If you have any thoughts on how I can get round this problem with BT please
let me know.
Many Thanks,
Brooks |
