A top bunch of lads from NTL turned up at my house in Great Holm
yesterday, were pleased to find that they could see the entire Linford wood
tower from the room where the computer is, and had the whole job done in
half an hour.
I gave up waiting for the help desk to call me for the set up of my computer
and plugged the Modem in via the Ethernet connection, within seconds and
without any further settings I was seeing the internet at just over 550K.
A slick job, well done lads.
They told me two interesting things:
1) There are still spaces available on the trial. Let's drum up some
more interest in it beyond the trial period.
2) The people of Milton Keynes aren't very generous with cups of coffee
when they are working up ladders on cold days!

It's very interesting to read about all the NTL Wireless
Broadband (attempted and successful) installations, but I've yet to see one
from my estate, Heelands.
A bit worrying as we are right next to the tower!
Does anyone know if there have actually been any (attempted) installations
in Heelands?
Here's hoping I get a phone call soon...

I'm (supposedly) connected up to broadband here (through
OneTel - I wouldn't touch ntl with a bargepole) but often find the
connection is even slower than using a dial-up modem!
Someone told me that when too many people are using a broadband enabled
exchange at once, BT narrows the bandwidth dramatically increasing the
length of time it takes pages to load. Do you know anything about this? Is
it true? Whom can I contact at BT to check this out and complain to?
The problem is particularly bad at 9am and from about 3pm onwards until the
middle of the evening (too many school kids connected up?).
Any thoughts, guidance, etc. would be appreciated.[You may have some
technical problem. See this link on
Contention
Ratio.]
Not very encouraging for people waiting for broadband to find that, once
they have it, problems still continue!
