Hi < >
This email is being sent to all members of the Broadband Action Group.
Serena, our point of contact with BT told me that they are now in a process
of mapping out areas which are failing ADSL due to excessive line length.
What is currently unclear is why some areas pass and some fail. Even next
door neighbours are getting different results. Once BT wholesale has
got a clear picture of the real state of the local loop,
they will make decisions
on whether to re-lay cable, replace certain types of cable, rewire
street cabinets or do something else.
BT's Bradley Borum is working on this "Cable Blueprint" solution, as was
reported last week. There will be another meeting with BT on the 18th. This will be a
small meeting limited to a few members of our group, as held last
week. At the meeting we will learn more about the "Cable Blueprint"
solution, specific work planned, and what commitment is required from
residents and other agencies.
There will be a meeting held before Christmas where everybody from our
group
will be invited.
The 60dB / 6km planning rule is now in place. Unfortunately BT have
discovered that the web-based broadband availability checkers do not
get their data from the same database source. Also ISP's are using out
of date information. They are on to it.
I do not have a specific link for a "good" web-based broadband
availability
checker.
Ending on a positive note, we have ten
Monkston residents on Broadband.
